There is a beautiful thought, according to which "rationalism is constructed metaphysics".
My journey into rationalism was born from this idea and could only start from Tresigallo (Ferrara), a country of 4,500 souls, considered the capital of Italian rationalism.
The local administration decided that the past, however uncomfortable, was the way to go to have a future.
Some of the most representative buildings were recovered and used for new purposes. Here the Casa del Balilla (later Casa della GIL), used as a gym, is transformed into the Casa della Cultura, the adjacent changing rooms in the cultural / exhibition center entitled Sogni, the Casa del Fascio in the Carabinieri station and so on, transforming Tresigallo into the "Metaphysical City".
Documenting lines, shapes and colors that come back to life (or waiting for their moment to come) is what I want to do with my polaroid. I like to emphasize the rigorous geometry of buildings and details and relate them to the blue sky.
"Rationalism" is a work in progress and Tresigallo is the first chapter.
For this work, I used the new Polaroid Originals Sx70 instant films and this means that each composition or single photo that makes up this series is a unique and unrepeatable work.
Humidity, temperature, moment of recovery and, in general, all external conditions, strongly influence the final result of each photo, since the emulsion of the Polaroids is very sensitive. Therefore, to get all the nuances of these photos, I had to go back several times to the same point, with the weather conditions that I knew would g.ive me the results I had in mind.
This is also the reason why it will take a long time to work on the next chapters of this work: Como, Sabaudia, Valdagno, Forli, Torviscosa, Latina (just to mention fews of them).
